Redirecting to subdomain/new WordPress site?

I tried to search for this but came up with an unclear answer.
I currently have a website at:(1) [www.website.com](https://www.website.com)

I have built a new one at:(2) [www.website.com/foldername/](https://www.website.com/foldername/)

I’d like to now have the website that’s at (2) show up when someone types in the URL for (1) and not show the folder name for any of the pages on that site.

Would be practices be to eliminate what’s at the root folder and move (2) there or is there an easier way to just change the domain pointer?
