Remote download location issue | WordPress.org

[ad_1]

I forgot to add that if the file is uploaded and therefore hosted on the same server, there are no issues. The problem only happens if the digital download is remotely hosted.

Hi @wattaman

I have digital products and I’d like them to be hosted remotely, on Google Drive. A direct download link from GD looks like this.

The problem is that after purchase, the file doesn’t download. What downloads is a no extension file name UA. I’ve tried opening it in a text editor without success, but it doesn’t appear to be the .zip file hosted on Google Drive. What am I doing wrong?

From what I understand, you’re experiencing issues with downloading your digital products, which are hosted remotely on Google Drive, after they have been purchased. The files that download appear to be without an extension and are not the .zip files that are hosted on Google Drive.

Firstly, I would recommend checking your file download method settings in WooCommerce. Please ensure that your File download method is set to ‘Redirect only (insecure)‘. This is because links from some cloud storage providers, like Google Drive, only work with this setting. You can find this option by navigating to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Downloadable Products on your WooCommerce dashboard.

If the problem persists after adjusting these settings, it might be due to the file link. Please ensure that the Google Drive link you are using is a shareable link and that anyone with the link has permission to view and download the file.

In case none of the above steps work, could you send us a copy of your site’s System Status? This will give us a clearer picture of your site’s setup and help us pinpoint the problem. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

Additionally, could you also provide us with the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you have that, please paste it inside a Code block in your reply, or use to paste it and share the link with us.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation in this matter. I’m looking forward to your response so we can solve this issue for you.
