Requirements for migrating a WordPress site

[ad_1]

Hello

My recently deceased father had a business of website hosting and design, and he used WordPress to design and maintain websites for \~15 clients.

Some of the clients were friends of him, and we want to give them everything they need to launch their site on their own (through another hosting service) so we can close the business and eventually stop paying for the hosting service that was used.

I never messed around with WordPress (systems programmer by trade) but after some tinkering around I managed to migrate one of the sites to a local XAMPP server.

I exported the site folder and the DB from the PHPMyAdmin interface.

I than changed some stuff that was needed in the wp-config.php and added a WordPress user through the database, and the site worked well.

In order to transfer the responsibility over the site to the clients I intend to give each one of them a zip with the files of the site and the exported database, and tell them to find another website maintainer that can set up and host everything for them.

Is this enough to get them going? is there anything else I need to do to make it easy for them to relaunch the sites?

Is it reasonable to expect another website maintainer to get by with what I intend to give them and do the configuration on the new hosting service by himself?

I wasn’t sure if this question should go here or in r/webhosting so let me know if it’s better to post it there.

Thanks in advance

Yup, you got it. That’s all that’s needed to spin up the site on a new hosting environment.
