Restrict content within a page based on custom user roles?

Does anybody know of a plugin that will allow content to be hidden/restricted from certain “custom” user roles? I’ve tried two plugins so far (“Content Control – User Access Restriction Plugin” and “Restrict – membership, site, content and user access restrictions for WordPress”), but they only support baked in user roles.

The roles I’m using are Candidate and Employer from WP Job manager. Interestingly, both plugins work in other regards, like restricting an entire page, but neither support content restrictions via shortcodes for custom user roles.
