Salient vs. Semplice

[ad_1]

As a designer with almost non-existent coding knowledge, I’ve been using Salient, and it’s been pretty easy to use and good for me over the years. Lately I’ve noticed that it’s getting slower, and I read some people here saying that it’s bloated and heavy. To circumvent the slowness, I had to add more plug-ins (for caching, lazy loading, minification, … etc.)–making it more bloated I think.

Other oft-recommended services like elementor basic have limited offerings, forcing me to go for an annual subscription for pro, without which the site would soon be left out in the cold without updates. It seems like the days of paying once for a portfolio theme that does its job simply and efficiently are ending.

Enter Semplice. I’ve been reading some good reviews about it, seeing some established designers use it, and liking its pay-once structure. The question is, is it bloated and heavy? All I am looking for a is theme with which I can build a masonry-style portfolio with individual project pages (in the same spirit of www.anagrama.com).
