Looking for recommendations for the best way manage scholarships & scholarship applications

*I have a client with a WordPress site. The client has set up a couple scholarships they want to offer. They want people to be able to apply for the scholarships on their site and they want to be able to track, manage, and award the scholarships to their preferred candidates.*
*My initial thought was doing it like a job board but instead of job openings people are applying for scholarships. But I don’t know that’s the best way to do it?*

WordPress probably isn’t your best bet. You should use something with a kanban board. Make a card for each application and move the card row to row as you work on it.
Many task managers do this. I have a board view in Todoist. There are also a number of free online services that let you do this. Google project management and you’ll get a bunch.
Is this internal management, or a public facing management board?
