Seeking Assistance: Registration Issues with Blocksy Child Theme in WordPress

[ad_1]

Hello @ifeihong

Do you have a website URL so that we could check a few things out? 🙂

Thanks!

Hello @ifeihong

As far as I can see, you do not have SSL properly implemented onto your website, which can and will affect user registration – as user registration is a secure process implemented by WordPress.

It seems that the server pretty much doesn’t like these requests and errors out when trying to complete the registration request – https://ibb.co/HdLK5gQ

My advice would be to contact your host and investigate this with them, as they have full access to the server logs and can properly implement SSL on your end.

Other than that, everything checks out from our side and the system works as expected. It’s the server that you’re running the site on that’s the problem.

Hope this clears things up!

Thanks.

However, I can register normally when I use the default registration page link of WordPress (/wp-login.php). But when I try to register using your built-in pop-up window, it doesn’t work?? I believe this issue has nothing to do with my server host, but is related to the theme, right?

Hello @ifeihong

Going directly to wp-login.php might have other implications, as the server might be configured in a specific way.

Do you have access to any of the server logs so that we could see what the server is complaining about?

These are really important in getting this fully diagnosed and “fixed”.

Thanks!

Can I view the logs? What do I need to do

Hello @ifeihong

You will need to contact your hosting service to get these pulled out. Please try to synchronise with them and pull the logs out right after an unsuccessful registration attempt was made, in order to see the issue clearly.

Thanks!

After increasing the PHP memory limit, I was able to register. The memory consumption of your theme’s registration is much higher than the default registration page.

Hi @ifeihong

There we go. I was a little off with the SSL theory, but that’s because it is impossible to guess what’s going on behind the scenes without access to these logs.

In any case, I’m glad everything is cool now. Indeed, the server requires more memory to process requests that are passing through other mechanisms (ours for example). As you can see, none of Blocksy’s files are being referenced here, which fully confirms this was a server misconfiguration issue. 🙂

Thanks.

After successful registration, the following message is displayed: “Your account was created successfully and a password has been sent to your email address. Please visit the login page.” Could you please tell me where I can modify these words? I want to replace them with another language.

Thank you so much.

Hello @ifeihong

These are software strings, which must be translated using specialised software, or by contributing to the main translation efforts so that all of your community can benefit from.

To find out how to do both, I’d suggest checking out this article – https://creativethemes.com/blocksy/docs/general/how-to-translate-blocksy/ – as it contains the exact information in order to get started.

Thanks.

I used the Loco Translate plugin and searched the themes: Blocksy Child and Blocksy. However, I couldn’t find the phrase “Your account was created successfully and a password has been sent to your email address. Please visit the login page.” If I could find it, I could directly create or replace the language.

I would like to know which theme or plugin the following text comes from: “Your account was created successfully and a password has been sent to your email address. Please visit the login page.”

Hello @ifeihong

Can you try looking under the Blocksy Companion plugin? Some of these features are brought on by the plugin, in order to increase performance and not load them all the time in case they’re not needed.

Thanks.
