Hello WordPress community!
I’m currently working on a project to develop a video-based patient education website aimed at individuals with long-term conditions in England. As part of my commitment to accessibility, I’m facing a challenge related to the font colour on the site which is in line with trademarked branding, but which doesn’t provide sufficient contrast as per WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards.
**Project Overview:**
The website utilises simple line-drawings and voiceover to deliver information in an easily understandable manner. My goal is to make the platform accessible to a wide range of users, including those with varying levels and types of colour blindness, visual impairments, or other accessibility needs.
**Proposed Solution:**
To address the contrast issue, I’m considering implementing a floating button with an accessibility symbol. Clicking this button would switch the current page to a black and white version with higher contrast, and include some larger text in areas like the footer. This would hopefully ensure better readability and improve accessibility for all users.
**Request for Feedback:**
I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and insights on this proposed solution. Have you encountered similar challenges in the past? How did you address them? Is this approach technically elegant and effective? Are there any alternative solutions or best practices that you could recommend?
**Additionally,** I’m contemplating providing black and white versions of the videos, considering that the content is not colour-dependent. If you have any experience or insights on implementing different video versions for accessibility purposes, I would love to hear your input on this matter as well.
Please find attached 2 images ([one]) and [two]) of the website design and two stills ([one]) and [two]) from a couple of the videos to give you a better visual context.
Thank you in advance for any feedback, suggestions, or experiences you can share. Your expertise is greatly valued!
PS: I’ve also posted in related communities such as r/blind, r/accessibility and r/colourblind to gather additional perspectives.

With your focus on sharing valuable information form long term conditions and a commitment to accessibility, my recommendation would be to fix the underlying problems with contrast on the site and not hide that behind a button that users may or may not find.
I understand your branding is trademarked, but there’s no reason all the page content needs to be the exact same color as your logo. Fix the contrast, make the footer text larger for everyone, and you won’t need to manage two different experiences.
Regarding the videos, I don’t understand the benefit of providing them in both color and black & white. What accessibility-related benefits are there? My recommendation would be to put that time towards transcripts and captioning of the video content instead of two versions of the same video.
