I recently took over the control of a website from another Web Agency. They were doing SEO on the website and it was ranked around 3 or 4th in the local area!
Now I have taken over, changed the website a little on wordpress. The SEO ranking seems to be way off the page when I am searching for it now
Changes I have made:
* Switched domain ownership from web agency to my siteground account
* I have put the site into maintenance mode
* I have fully optimised around the best keywords
* I changed the underlying website using Elementor
* Installed Rank math, and archived 80+ score on all pages
Any ideas how I can get the previous ranking back?
I assumed SEO was performed at the URL level, so the SEO would be unaffected?
What concerns me is how quickly the ranking dropped. It was in the space of a week or so

What are the actual changes you’ve made? I know some SEO basics, so I’m not qualified enough to help you out with this. But if I have to believe some of my coworkers (who are SEO specialists), even the smallest changes can have a big impact.

The URL plays a minor role in SEO rank factor.
