I’m currently running an e-commerce website, Fanjackects.com, on WordPress, but we’re stuck at around 1.5k in organic traffic. I’m considering migrating the site to Shopify to potentially improve performance and growth.
Will migrating to Shopify help boost my organic traffic, and are there any SEO or technical aspects I should be aware of during the migration process? Any advice on how this move might impact my site’s rankings and overall performance would be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to your insights!
I’ve seen discussions and comments here suggesting that switching from Shopify to WordPress has increased organic traffic. Previously, I was developing a Shopify store and have now migrated to WordPress. The project isn’t complete yet, so I haven’t checked for any differences in traffic.
However, if you choose a faster WP theme, there’s certainly a chance for more organic visibility due to improved HTML markup. Note that Shopify includes a built-in CDN for static assets, whereas you’ll need to set up a CDN manually in WooCommerce.
Therefore, I can’t definitively say whether the result will be positive or negative.
The best approach depends on your needs: if you’re facing limitations with customizing Shopify, switching to WooCommerce might be beneficial. If not, sticking with Shopify is advisable since each platform has its own benefits and drawbacks.
Switching to Shopify will not boost organic traffic. But fixing some SEO issues, adding new content, and improving the PageSpeed score can.
It likely won’t increase your organic traffic and with migrations there is a chance that you lose traffic at least temporarily with all the redirects.
I recommend using a WordPress SEO plugin like AIOSEO and improve your WooCommerce speed performance.
