Should I delete the .htaccess File?

Hi guys,

I’m building a new WordPress site and wish to use WP Reset to clean it throughly to remove all the things that are pre-installed by the hosting company.

There is an option for deleting the .htaccess file. I searched on Google and wished to find an answer for whether I should delete it. But the answers are confusing and conflicting.

It seems this file is very important for the proper function of WordPress, but it also seems I can delete it without an issue.

So what’s your opinion? Please give me some advice. Thanks in advance!

  1. A clean WordPress install will work without a Htaccess file, but some cache plugins etc use it so you might find it breaks things if you do.
