Should I delete twenty twenty, twenty one, twenty two, twenty three themes?

[ad_1]

I have twenty-twenty, twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, twenty four themes in my WordPress root. I use OceanWP theme. I want to keep at one default theme so that in case of any problem I can switch to the one theme. Should I delete earlier versions of twenty four?

  1. Yeah. Worst case scenario you can always run a WP Reset plugin and you will get the default themes back.

  2. Yes. Keep one OEM theme as a backup in case your theme or child theme goes wonky. I go with the latest release. So keep TwentyTwentyFour until the next one comes out.

  3. Was reading about this a few months back and the website (I can’t remember which one it was but it’s a pretty well respected site) recommended that all WordPress themes with the exception of the most recent year theme should be deleted. The reasoning was that the older themes still lived in the WordPress back end and would eventually become a security risk. It also recommended keeping the most recent year’s theme as it was not only the most secure but would provide a back up in case the page builder you used malfunctioned for some reason.

  4. Yes, you can, but you should leave one of them in case of any issues in the future, such as a database error or other problems that might force you to disable the plugins/themes folders.
