Is there a community/independent source to download plugins free either copies of paid for plug ins or ones people have made themselves? (My set up is WordPress/Woocomerce)
Yes but don’t use them. You’ll get your website hacked and many hosts do not allow you to use plugins from sites like that.
It’s better to use free options from the WP org site and then work your way to buying LTD (lifetime deals) of plugins you like.
You mean other than eordpress.org/plugins? Because the plugins there are free, although sometimes they are built paid services and quite often they come advertising paid pro versions.
You are looking for what is called a gpl supplier but as said some of these will have nasties in theme and the only way to know for sure is to compare to a real downloaded version which you can’t do if you don’t own the licence
