Site Kit & GTM – Tag not found

[ad_1]

Thanks for reaching out @elenatreddy. And great to hear that you’re using Site Kit to insert your Tag Manager snippet.

But when i try to run the preview from GTM, it connects to the website but says “Google Tag: GTM-number Not Found”.

Can you share your site URL and where you’re seeing this message and I can investigate this further? You can share this information privately if preferring, using this form. I can then check for a valid snippet, while using the tagassistant.google.com service to ensure all is working as expected with your Tag Manager snippet placed via Site Kit.

Thank you James! I filled in the form. Hope it can help pinpoint the issue!

Many thanks for sharing @elenatreddy. It looks like you have configured Site Kit and Tag Manager correct. I checked your site both manually and using the tagassistant.google.com service (which you can use yourself). From doing so I can see that all your tags are firing from the connected Tag Manager container.

Note also that in my case these didn’t fire immediately, as I had to consent via your CookieYes popup. This is likely the cause for you experiencing a notice regarding a container not being found. Can you share where you found this “Google Tag: GTM-number Not Found” notice?

Glad to hear the configuration is ok!
Here’s a screenshot of the message I get: https://treddy.it/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/gtm1.png

This is the path: open GTM > select container > click on preview
As you can see it connects correctly to the website, but keeps saying tag not found… Maybe i’m following the wrogn method?

Thanks for sharing this. I encountered the same when testing your site, but as mentioned you’ll need to provide consent using your CookieYes plugin in order for your tags to fire (and reflect in tagassistant.google.com).

To confirm all is good, can you either temporarily deactivate CookieYes and check the tagassistant.google.com service once more, or alternatively can you check using a Chrome browser incognito window? If using the format, please be sure to grant consent using CookieYes when Tagassistant is trying to connect with your site.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

I reset the cookies and now everything works!
Thank you so much for your help, it really helped a lot!
