Hi @dbrdh,
Thanks for reaching out, and I’m so sorry about the inconvenience.
Kindly know that this error message isn’t caused by WP Mail SMTP plugin.
The error typically means the email you sent was rejected by the recipient server, and this particular error (550 5.4.1 Recipient address rejected: Access denied) indicates one of the following issues:
- Incorrect Email Address: The email address you are trying to send to is incorrect or does not exist.
- Recipient’s Server Policies: The recipient’s mail server has specific policies that are rejecting your email. This could be due to spam filters, blacklisting, or other security settings.
- IP Blocked: Your sending IP might be blocked or blacklisted by the recipient’s mail server.
To resolve this, please confirm first that the email address ([email protected]) you are sending the email to actually exists and can receive emails. You can do this by contacting the recipient server administrator. They should be able to advise accordingly on what’s causing the rejection.
I hope this helps. Thanks 🙂

Thanks for that. It gave me a clue. Found the issue was nothing to do with the plugin as you said. It was an auto responder, replying to a bounced email warning from mailer-daemon! The mailer-daemon replied with the error message saying the auto response wasn’t accepted which got auto responded to… and so it went on! Now turned the auto response off while trying to construct a rule that auto responds to all except the mailer-daemon’s messages. Another story…
Thanks for the reply. It helped.
