Very little experience with WordPress, but it’s become my responsibility after some turnover. Boss forwards me a note from SiteGround stating that malicious code was detected on our site. Located the files, and they are old .patch files in the backup folders from WordPress updates from over ten years ago. Are these files ok to delete? After searching on Google and the WordPress forums, I can’t find anything definitive.
