I’ve just moved my hosting over to WP Engine and have found that if a customer places a large order (20+ individual items), it takes over 60 seconds for the order to complete.
WP Engine has a Long Process Killer (LPK) set to 60 Seconds to ensure the Server Usage is not too high for too long, so if the checkout takes over 60 seconds the process is killed.
Should the checkout process be taking this long for large orders?
Are there any ‘best practices’ or checkout optimizations I can try to make the checkout process faster?
Ideally I’ll be able to optimize the checkout so that orders don’t take so long to process, rather than having to switch hosts to another one that doesn’t have this limitation.
That it’s taking over 60 seconds for an order to be processed isn’t ideal.
