  1. Some slugs are reserved, like /embed, or it could be an attachment as well. Have you searched the database for the slug?

  2. If you try to remove it and it goes back to *-2, something else somewhere is using that. Could be media, page, post, etc.

  3. Check your trash bin. Common issue is the page/post still exists in trash or draft status and the original needs to be permanently deleted or have the slug changed to avoid permalink conflicts.
