I’ve had a WP site for around 3 years myself, no security plugin at all. Never had an issue.
I recently helped a friend build a new WP site who’s previous WordPress site was a total mess and kept getting Malware. As a result, with the new build, I installed Wordfence which seems decent – setup 2FA, turned on scanning as well as blocking login attempts after 5 fails etc.
However, I now get probably 30-40 email notifications a day of malicious login attempts having been blocked – I know I can turn the notifications off, and it’s good they’ve been blocked, but is being targeted this much normal? Knowing there’s so many attempts to get in makes me a bit uneasy. Is there anything else I can do to keep it secure?
