Still a bit new to WP and wish to speed things up on my site ([www.alzheimerstech.com/]) and wonder a few things which I hope to get some feedback on:
* I’m using BoldGrid / Crio Pro at DreamHost and find it .. slow. Shared hosting plan (what they call the affordable hosting plan).
* If I change to a simpler setup with a basic/fast theme say Neve, Hello Elementor or OceanWP, use the Guttenberg interface, will I see a significant speed gain? My content is pretty simple and I don’t really need the complex stuff like BoldGrid offers or even Elementor I think.
* Should I move from my current theme to another, what’s the best way? I was thinking hosting a local VM, downloading the site via a backup type tool, tweaking, then re-migrating to the live host when happy. Not sure if this will be improving things significantly, I suspect it’s my hosting plan.
Input welcomed, if I find my site slow odds are my visitors will as well. Willing to change host (no I don’t want to start a hosting discussion, just want to find what need to be changed to speed things up).

Fast Hosting + Lightweight Theme + Lightweight Plugins = Fast Site

There are many ways. I would do the following:
1. Install WordPress on a fast server
2. Install a lightweight theme (GeneratePress, Neve, Kadence, Bricks, etc.)
3. Install the essential plugins
4. Export just the posts and pages (only contents) from the old site and import them on the new site.
5. Create the look that you want using your theme. Either with Gutenberg, or alternatively with Bricks, if you prefer more of a page builder experience.
