Splitting posts into post types rather than categories for easy reference?

[ad_1]

I’m creating a blog in WordPress with six different categories within one genre. Initially, I thought about using Advanced Custom Fields to sort these categories into their own custom post types for easier reference, especially since I expect to have hundreds of posts. However, I’m concerned that doing this might cause the categories to become too separated, making it difficult to display them together in widgets like “all posts.” I also worry that tags or categories shared across different post types won’t be global, but instead will only be relevant within their specific post type.

Is this correct? Should I continue with this approach, or would it be better to keep all my posts in the default post type?

  1. Are the posts just blogposts? Keep them categorized.

Are the posts different types? Split them up.

Are you going to make a blog post, a real estate listing, and a recipe post? Go ahead, split them up.

Are you going to make various blogposts, with different themes and subjects? Go use them categories.
