Hello,
I work for a local government department and need to stand up a simple public employee directory for our staff to access from mobile devices. We had an older custom html site that had to be taken down a couple weeks ago and there currently is nothing to replace it.
We need a basic replacement up quickly (1-2 weeks). We need to be able to import via CSV and regularly update, ideally without needing to manually upload each time. Looking for an existing plugin to get something up asap. We may end up creating a custom plugin later.
Any suggestions?

The problem with going for an off-the-shelf solution is going to be importing your existing data.
It’s straightforward to create a directory site using something like ACF + a page builder and there are a tonne of tutorials on YouTube for exactly this. Also doing it this way means you end up with only the fields you require.
Importing the data is best done via direct interaction with the database but there are also plugins which do this (although they can get expensive).
Any decent WordPress developer would find this to be an easy project.
Obviously the biggest thing is the security side of things so make sure you’re following all the best practices. If it’s for internal use only I would be tempted to only allow access from specific IPs, and even then I would make users create accounts and sign in.
Our plugin GeoDirectory allows to import/export and edit listings via CSV in Bulk. Yo ucan definitely use it for what you describe. Hope this helps.
