Hi all! I am pretty clueless about WordPress so looking for advice.
I built a pretty robust website for my company in WordPress (took me over a year to get it completely perfect). I used Elementor Pro to design my website.
How do I create a staging site as a backup.? Do I need to purchase an additional WordPress and Elementor Pro license for a staging website? I currently have the WordPress pro plan for $180 annually.
It seems like a lot to double that for a staging website, but the Elementor Pro license đź«

It looks like Elementor Pro offers a free license for staging sites. They have a list of domain and subdomain types that they count as staging sites here: https://elementor.com/blog/elementor-expands-license-to-include-staging-sites/
When you say you’re on the WordPress pro plan, is this through WordPress.com? For the most flexibility, you’ll want to use self-hosted WordPress on your own host. For instance, you can get basic shared hosting plus a staging site for $5 / Month ($60 / Year) from MediaServe (https://mediaserve.com/shared-web-hosting) and have full control over your WordPress. The WordPress.com hosting limits what you can install and I don’t know that they offer a staging site with their plans.
Who is your web hosting? Many hosting premium services allow to create a staging site.
You should not need an extra elementor license for a staging site if you were to create one.
Most builders nowadays will give you free staging licenses with your purchase. Some website hosts allow staging. Never worked with wordpress.com. but there is a plugin called wp vivid that allows and can create staging sites within your main site.

However, this feature is only available for those on the Business and Commerce plans.
