Start a new WP design without affecting current site

Hello!

So I have a website that is working OK, but I want to experiment with some new themes, a v2 of my website.

I do not have cpanel, I do have access to ftp.

How can I start a fresh wordpress site, and then if I like my design pass to be my main site?

I have created a folder”v2″ at the root, now what? haha
