Started a WordPress business, got threatened in #Day1 🤯😢

[ad_1]

I used to develop websites for international clients (200+ projects in 2 year) before starting a product startup. Entrepreneurial journey is thrilling as well as rocky, forcing us to do some side gigs to meet ends- started a small web-development initiative.

My goal was to meet some financial constraints to keep my startup team afloat not make a killer profit, so opted to charge only $70. That’s when things took a wild turn.

Yesterday, a web development agency threatened consequences if we didn’t raise our prices.

Today, another call from someone else, with a gentler tone but similar demands to strip down our services to one-page sites else we affects their livelihood. (Our ads promised complete multi device, multi page development, Email, SEO, Cloud-flare security and domain for above price)

While I empathize with their concerns about livelihoods, I believe our pricing is fair given the scope of work. Should I ignore these requests and stick to our current pricing model? What’s your opinion on our charges?

  1. Stick to your guns, don’t let other businesses bully you out of your own. If you deem your pricing sustainable, then that’s that.

  2. Have you actually sat down and worked out all your costs?

Insurance? Tax? Fund for when a project goes wrong? etc?

When you do, you may not be a sustainable business.
