Hi, I took on a wordpress revamp for a client, strangely enough, I don’t exactly have a wordpress builder background. I have past experiences on Framer, Squarespace but just not wordpress.
Is there anything I have to take note when revamping a wordpress for a client?
The client request:
- Event management flow (event listing, event detail page, event confirmation page, event reminder to attendees, post event feedback collection)
- About us page
3 Team member page - Article page
- Homepage
- Careers
- Contact us
The client is currently running on Elementor (not sure if it’s Free/Pro).
Qns:
- Do i build the theme from scratch using Elementor or I could utilise Elementor Kit? What’s the different between templates/themes or kit?
- What should I take note when revamping a wordpress page? / What should I NOT do?
- Is there a staging/production feature for me to see staging site?
- Based on these requests, is this site considered basic/medium level?
- How do I not overload the site with multiple plugins?

First order of business in any revamp project is to make sure you keep SEO structure, permalinks, schema, and content intact. If you don’t do this you will be in a whole lot of trouble with your client when the Goolag Analytics report comes in.
Edit:
The safest route to go is to keep the Elementor, and just improve things around that.
Is it a revamp or a rebuild? It’s not a simple job if this is your first time – there’s a lot of moving parts.
I’d recommend you start by installing Local from https://localwp.com just to see what you’re capable of. This might be beyond you as a first job.
