Starting Fresh? Help for Redirecting Old Articles to a New Domain

The HCU killed my site, and I’ve tried everything possible to recover and waited 7 months. At this point it seems hopeless and there is no traffic to lose so i want to start over with a new domain, and just move all my good handwritten articles there and see if I can revive it. Plus I wanted to change my domain name anyway to an abbreviation, so this also gives me an excuse.

My question is should I even try to redirect the minuscule google authority I even have left at this point or start fresh? My site is 25 authority on Moz and I got a few good backlinks to some 85+ DR sites. How important is it to redirect these and do they get direct with a 301?

I am with wordpress and I already own two domains with the “primary” currently set. I bought the third. I don’t think I will have to change everything, just remove the rest of the AI crap and make the one I just purchased the primary.

When I first started my sited I changed the name after 6 months right as the traffic first picked up. I never redirected or didn’t even know how at the time. Google eventually de indexed all of those pages and indexed the others about 4 months later so I assume you don’t have to do anything really.

I’m keeping all my logo’s and branding and name and website the same. Just a shorter domain abreviation. If you use the old domain name it will still take you there. My question is that a good thing or should I probably try to distance myself. It’s a big move just trying to get feedback. It seems like google would already know these are the same articles anyway even if I completely started over on another site independent.

Thanks
