Hi, im a moderately experienced full stack developer (Built websites using React, NextJs, and .NET). Ive also had experience with making wordpress sites using elementor for a few clients. Its been a couple of years since ive used wordpress. Im making a website for a church, which doesnt need much customization. I want to get it done quickly so im using wordpress. I got a theme and have been using elementor to customize it. Ive been running into alot of issues customizing it, as the theme is not very intuitive. Its been such a pain when I know what I want to build but Im running into road blocks trying to build it. Im only a few days into making it, so im thinking now would be the time if I want to switch.
Im considering making a custom elementor site using Pro + hello theme as ive done that in the past. But i know the performance of elementor isnt great. I've been looking on reddit and seen people reccomending Bricks, Gutenberg, FSE (not sure if this is different from gutenberg), GeneratePress, Blocksy, Oxygen, etc, etc. Im a bit overwhelmed by all these options. I need something that is relatively quick to develop, and is customizable. You guys are probably sick of this question, but what would you guys recommend for my case?
I had a client that needed a website done as fast as possible and his only requirement was “simple, nice looking and fast”.
Since I didn’t had time to design a proper website, I decided to try Astra/Spectra with their themes (Starter themes I think? They will tell you during Astra installation) and I got impressed with how good the templates looked.
And it seems to be fast, since it mainly uses WordPress Gutenberg + some extra blocks from Spectra
