Hope you are fine. We are running a website under WooCommerce + Stripe payment plugin and are very annoyed with some “failing” orders.
When going to Orders Dashboard in WordPress back-office, we can see an important number of failed orders with status note:
“Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed.”
This status is quite strange because we don’t have any other information about transaction in notes list.
We have “woocommerce-gateway-stripe” logs activated and no information in it about the order with these status … and it could make sense because the Stripe gateway does not seem to be contacted during these very specific payment tries.
What I can understand today about these orders is that :
– an order is created into the WP database (on form submit)
– Stripe gateway is not reached in this case, and this is a the reason we do not have any other note in database.
The strangest thing here is that the order is created at the very moment the customer submits the payment with credit card info on the frontend, meaning there should be no chance that an order can be created without contacting Stripe gateway.
We do not have any PHP error related in error logs.
So, my question is : “In which case, a payment try can move from Pending to failed status without contacting payment gateway?”
I would appreciate a lot your help on this topic.
