I can confirm this would be a bug. I’ve raised this up and we’ll tackle it asap.
For now, the correct workaround is what you’ve been doing, manually readjusting the user’s store credit to compensate.
This definitely isn’t right long term, so we’ll be fixing this as soon as we can.
