Strange Characters Live but not Not Logged In

[ad_1]

Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I’m not really sure, but it looks like the file

/wp-content/plugins/tablepress/css/build/default.css

somehow has wrong/incomplete characters. Did you use any special method for updating, like copying files via FTP or via a version control system?

Can you maybe try re-installing TablePress from a fresh download? (You could deactivate/delete it from within the admin dashboard and then re-install it by searching again for “TablePress”, on the “Plugins” screen.)

After that, please go the “Plugin Options” screen of TablePress and save your “Custom CSS” again, after making some temporary change (that you can then immediately revert and save again). Then, also clear your caching plugin’s CSS cache.

Tobias

Thanks for the suggestion.

I did not do anything special to update the plugin. I went to the plugin page and selected update.

If I do a reinstall, won’t I lose the tables that I have created? I do not want to do this as it would take a lot of effort to recreate them.

Can I simply copy the default.css file over again as I do not think I have any custom css within this plugin? If this would work, where can I get a clean copy of that file?

Hi,

okay, thanks for the clarification. Then your server is maybe not properly returning the file in UTF-8 encoding or something…

And no worries, your tables will be kept when doing this 🙂

But indeed, just replacing the file should also work. Please get it from here: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TablePress/TablePress/2.0/css/build/default.css

I tried replacing the file and this did not fix the problem. So I just want to confirm that if I delete the plugin and then reinstall it, I will not lose the tables that I have already created. Please confirm and then I will give that a try.

Hi,

thanks for trying that! If replacing the file did not help, a reinstallation also likely won’t (it’s the same thing in the end).

If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please get in touch via email (the address is on )? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

Hello.

Just to report back…I have solved the issue. I had a minify plugin that was blocking the css file from running correctly. As usual with these things, user error. Just takes a while to find the cause. Thanks for the prompt reply and the help.

Hi @nyg8or,

great to hear that this is solved! 🙂 Thanks for reporting back!

Best wishes,
Tobias
