Struggling with limitations of Elementor free, any alternative?

[ad_1]

Hello,
I am creating a website for my own lawyer solo career and I am a bit confused.

I’ve got the domain, the host plan, wordpress installed and I’m in the Dashboard. I’ve got a logo I like and a template I really like. That template I downloaded from somebody that shared it for free on some website and is a .json file. Fun ends here.

It doesn’t have a header and a footer, I tried replicating one with the elementor header and footer plugin but so far it looks nothing like it should.

With tears in my eyes I moved on to a pre-build theme I sort of accept – again, paywall.
Editing the “middle” without customizing the header makes everything literally useless.

Now, I don’t want to look like I want to “cheat” the system, no, but I don’t feel like paying for Pro for a whole year just to make one single basic website is justified, so I’m looking for alternatives.

1. If I like a certain theme, for example on the Astra theme, can I use something other than Elementor that can allow me to customize everything in it without a paywall?
2. What are some Elementor free worthy competitors?
3. Can I load and edit a .json file in something else, other than elementor?

Thanks in advance!

Its $59. The amount of time and energy you’re going to spend searching for a new solution, re-doing everything, and whatever else is going to cost you more than $59 in time.

  2. 1. No, Header and footer are part of the theme, not elementor.
    3. Why do u need elementor to open an json?

  3. >That template I downloaded from somebody that shared it for free on some website and is a .json file. Fun ends here.

Yeah, delete that theme and go to [WP repository]) and get a legit one from there.

  4. Dude, are you a lawyer or a lawn mower guy? I have not heard of a lawyer who could not afford the cost of a WordPress plugin.

A good alternative is Bricks. But it is not free. You need to pay for it, just like for lawyer’s services. Otherwise, use Gutenberg. It is free and OK.

  5. As a lawyer, you’ve probably already used more billable time on this than if you just paid the money and were done with it.

You’re not making one single basic website, you’re making your virtual storefront. The place where people see your services and decide if you are worth the money you’re charging. If you do this right, you’ll generate tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of income yearly.

    Isn’t that worth $59?

You could also try something like this on their free tier:

  6. Send me a message, I have genuine licence for elementor astra bricks, and I can help you out

  7. The whole way your going about this along with your complaints have me scratching my head.

    1. Create a WordPress Installation
    2. Install the base elementor theme which is free.
    3. Install the elementor plugin.
    4. Install say ElementsKit plugin which has a header and footer builder as part of the free plugin. There are other plugins that provide this ability but this one provides it for free and it is easy to use and works well.
    5. If you desire more elementor widgets for styling beyond what elementor free and elements kit free provides then install Element Pack which is the king of elementor widget variety, and Premium Addons which has some of the nicest constructed elementor widgets around.

All the above have hundreds of free pre built section and page templates between them. Including header templates. Find one close to what you desire and then simply edit it to manipulate to your desired appearance.

There are other places to obtain many free elementor templates if you need them.

In everything I noted above you will hit zero paywalls to build a full website.

A WP .json file is typically an export of a configuration of theme styles, or elements or configurations (and sometimes all the aforementioned). So for what theme, plugin or layout/style configuration was the json file export created? If your using a different theme it is entirely possible the .json file will do you no good, unless it was an elementor .json file export with only the base elementor plugin installed and you would still need to know the theme. Of course the .json file could be a template export – an export of a styled header, section, etc, but you still need to know what was installed for it to fully import properly.

I constantly read all sorts of crap on the wp and dev subs about Elementor bad this, and elementor bad that. And sometimes it is true. But the fact is it is very easy to use as long as you understand the ground rules. And an incredible amount can be done without ever spending a penny.
