I have a friend who’se current web guy hasn’t been the greatest. She would reach out to him for simple edits/updates, he’d say “yes I’ll do it” and then never do it.
So she asked me to take over and redesigning, and I accepted. I got the WP login credentials, logged in, and what I saw was a nightmare.
Plugins completely out of date, themes completely out of date, 10 different themes installed just sitting doing nothing. Even the PHP is out of date.
In short, this guy hasn’t been doing anything at all. To make things even weirder, he hosts the site on his own server.
So, I’m completely rebuilding and redesigning from scratch. I’m doing this locally using the Local WP tool.
So, I really want to completely scratch and abandon their old WP site/account, use my own fresh WP account, and get the hosting switched over to GoDaddy.
Is it possible to switch to a different WP account for an existing site? Any quick insights on how to do this? I just really want her site completely severed from what it’s currently on.

You can use a plugin like Duplicator to save a copy of the site and an installer that lets you install it on another server.
I would recommend not using Godaddy though. They are just horrible. Or any EIG/Newfold Digital hosts which are also horrible:
Of course make sure it runs properly first and has everything before deleting the old one too. May want to take a full backup of the account if you can somehow just in case the plugin misses anything important.
