Taking over publishing blog posts for a site and have a question: Why is the information added to the “SEO | Description” for the post not being added to the actual page?

Hello! I have SEO options for the post. The seo title gets added to the page correctly, but the description does not. Why would the description not be added to the page? Sorry, I have just recently taken over blog posting for this site and have no idea if those SEO options are available via a plugin or what. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
