Tell me how this is possible ?

[ad_1]

So I identified an issue where I could not longer click on the menu (both mobile and desktop)

The issue was caused by a Tables plugin.

Upon Further research I identified a main.js that was being caused by having CLOUDFLARE Rocket loader.
So I was looking for the URL so that I could exclude them from CLOUDFLARE Rocket loader

Now, for some reason I turned back Rocket Loader in CLOUDFLARE and I cleared the cache.

The menu started working again, meaning I was able to click on it again.
(I didn’t even have to exclude the main js url from the CLOUDFLARE Bypass cache setting.

How in the world is it even possible for such an issue to fix itself BYITSELF ?

My biggest fear is we go live and this is a highly visited sites and hell breaks lose.

  1. Because Cloudflare Rocket loader changes how the js works and could have broken the js on your theme.

That’s why you don’t use it unless you know what you’re doing.

Most WP themes and plugins say not to use that option in Cloudflare.

And yes, it can make your site load faster. But then you need to custom code your site to work WITH Cloudflare Rocket loader

I don’t use the feature myself and my sites are fast. Start with a good host, Optimize your WP site, and then let Cloudflare help speed up your site. But it sounds like you’re using a free theme or an older coded theme.

  2. Cache can be tricky; there could be a lot of things that would be fixed by “themselves”.

Keep in mind that the menu is loaded via a JavaScript action, so if your JS is not loading properly,
just set the cache to ignore the JS file.

Maybe you are using some kind of JS minifier that could interfere with the code?

  3. I wouldn’t recommend using CloudFlare’s Rocket Loader on any but the most basic of sites – way too high a chance it fucks something up, and yeah, it’s usually the site menu you notice first which it messes with.

It’s nice in theory, but last I checked it was a beta function and has been beta for about 10 years, for a good reason.

  4. Newer versions of WordPress (I think 6.3 and above) try to defer non-essential JavaScript out of the box. So there is little use for Rocket Loader in WordPress sites.
