Hi folks. I have a client who wants forums on her new WordPress site. My usual caveats about the headaches and maintenance overhead of running online forums are falling on deaf ears because that’s what her clients demand.
I’ve managed to convince her that, given that her clients have no IT expertise and little time to invest in site admin, we go with a cloud-hosted forum provider rather than a local plugin like BBPress or BuddyPress. That leaves me having to find such a third-party vendor.
Can anyone recommend a forum hosting provider that permits one to embed multiple forums in WordPress, ideally using the same domain, and offers at least basic custom styling? By “embed” I mean the same way that Disqus supports embedding comments on web sites.
I’m not looking for a website hosting provider. We already have an EC2 server for this and are required to use it. In a perfect world, it would be a shortcode I could plug into a page. There’s money in the budget for this so I’m looking for a company with integration and service experience. This has turned out not to be such an easy Google search.
