Thumbnails not generated. Images not resizable. NO image data.

Check Tools > Site Health to see if there are any messages there about missing PHP modules. If imagick or something is missing, that may be an indication of the cause. Your hoster would have to clarify this.

Also install the plugin: – it shows you which thumbnail sizes should exist and gives you the possibility to generate them.

Nothing about the PHP modules but that regenerate thumbnails worked a treat! Thanks.

I haven’t tested it on whether it resizes automatically on upload but I *can* now edit the images and that’s a heck of an improvement. (The heck with smush and JetPack….)

Thank you *so* much.

Glad I could be of help. But I’m surprised that WordPress itself didn’t do it right away. Feel free to set the topic to solved.

Unfortunately I still have issues. The thumbnail regenerater and it companion image editor make my problem solveable but at about five times the difficultly as photos are still loading large and I must regenerate the thumbnails and resize the images manually every time and I must do it *before* I write my post because editing the photos *after* the post will not link to the resized photos but to the original (in fact I can’t seem to get it to ever link to any rotated images ever but … I could be just misinterpreting events).

I’ll post more in detail tonight when I have more time but I feel there is still an error in my WP settings and although I have a hack around it, it would be a lot better if I actually *solved* the issue.

Oh, I’ll call it solved.
