I have a WordPress website and I’ve been wondering is upgrading to premium worth it. The biggest selling point for me is the paid advertising. But I’d like to know how much people typically bring in and if it is worth it?
You have a WordPress.com site. That’s different to WordPress. WordPress doesn’t require you to pay money to use Ads, but WordPress.com does.

WordPress.com is not actual wordpress. They are a wordpress based hosting company provided by Automattic. Ironically they use WordPress’s name yet limit you in every single aspect they can to upcharge you. Stay away from them.
Beyond the dot com and dot org differences already mentioned, for the paid ads, that really depends on how much traffic your site gets.
If you are getting 10,000 views a month you could make a few hundred dollars. If you are getting 100 views a month you could make 48 cents per month.
