Tracing the origin of a shortcode

[ad_1]

Do you have a category called “News” in your Posts section?

From the way the shortcode is worded and the limited information, my stab in the dark would be that the content you are seeing are Posts with the category of “News”, or maybe a Tag of “News”. Either that or an actual custom post type called News. That’s my best guess.

yes you are correct, I get that it’s pulling the latest post from a series of Posts with the category name ‘News’. That’s all fine. What I’m trying to figure out is where that short code came from because it is adding an h3 element above the said news posts and i cant figure out where that lives to change it. Thanks!

Look at your installed plugins. Anything sound like it does what your shortcode is doing? If you have FTP access you could always just search the entire plugins folder for “home_page_item_listings” or you could do it the long way by going to /wp-admin/plugin-editor.php and opening up every file in there one by one and searching for it.

Thanks tugbucket, you put me on the right path. I was able to track it down deep in the functions.php markup. Not the most efficient way to update it but it worked.

Thanks all
