Trying to help a student. They’ve connected their wordpress page to hostgator but it’s still saying page not found.

Apologies for a lack of information; I’ll try to be as detailed as I can.

I’m a web dev tutor, but I don’t teach WordPress (clearly says so on my tutor profile). Nonetheless, a student purchased a lesson with me and can’t seem to get their domain working. He seems to have followed all the steps, He set his domain name on wordpress and made it his primary and is not linking any other domains. He pointed his DNS on hostgator to the three wordpress addresses. He waited until the domain says “active”. Despite all this, it’s still saying page not found when he tries to visit his domain. We thought maybe it was because he hadn’t set his home page to “published” so we did that, but it’s still not working. Do any of you have any ideas what might the problem be?

Again, apologies for any lack of important details. If I’m missing some information, let me know, I’ll try to get a hold of this student and ask them, or even just refer them here. If this question is badly formatted, downvote me, ignore me, do what you will, and I apologize if I used this subreddit improperly.

Edit: He did contact hostgator support, and they couldn’t help him. I recommended he contact wordpress support or ask the community forums. I’m asking here in hopes to get a quicker answer for him.

  1. If you’re open to sharing more details such as the domain of the site, it’ll be easier to suggest ideas/recommendations.
