Trying to import a ZIP file of the site that we were reluctantly sent by previous web dev who was holding the site hostage. He seems to have sent a zip file of SQL & php files, including the core Wp files.
I’ve created a new WP login
Tools > Import
Tried to upload the zip, error message.
I have the core wp files, seem to all be .php format, and some SQL files, neither of which will upload (We had trouble reading the import file. Please make sure it’s valid XML) My files sent over are ZIP, and .php, not XML – can anybody point out where I’m going wrong. His last email seemed to make it look easy, he’ll send the files over and we import them. No idea why he couldn’t just give us a login to the existing site, I think he’s worried that we’ll be able to see that nothing was ever done and he was overcharging for SSL, backups, hosting etc.
