*1st, allow me to state for the record that I’m not a coder.*
I did a clean install of wordpress (self-hosted) and then installed the plugin bbpress.
Lastly, I installed the theme Stargazer Colloquium.
I can’t it to look even remotely like a discussion board and I’ve tried customizing, etc.
It continues to look like a blog.
I have no idea what to do to fix this problem.

You’d have to share the link to the website if it’s up or some screenshots for us to see what you’re talking about. Most of the plugins won’t come out of the box with exactly what you are trying to do, you may need to add some custom code for the exact visual stuff you’re looking for. You also might not be looking into the proper plugins to get exactly what you’re looking for. WordPress and tons of plugins that do the same things, maybe try working with some of the other available plugins.
