At the end of every email notification we get from WordPress and GravityForms we see this:
If you’d like to unsubscribe and stop receiving these emails click here .
The “click here” takes to you a page that says:
URL: Unsubscribe successful (sendgrid.net)
Unsubscribe successful
Your email has been successfully unsubscribed from this list!
99.99% of the time this is by accident and people do need these notifications and emails. I’ve engaged with Microsoft Admin Support thinking this had something to do with SendGrid, but they redirected me back to the sites that sent the email saying there must be some way to “Resubscribe.” I agree, but I can’t find anyway that someone would resubscribe to an email they never subscribed to in the first place.
What happens on our end is the users fill out a form and the gravity notification sends it to their email. So at no point are they checking a box or updating their profile to receive notifications. I’m going to be posting something similar to this on Moodle’s Forum and OSTicket. All three (3) systems have the same line at the end of every email notification. I told that to Microsoft and they stated that it is still 100% on the sites. Maybe this is my inexperience, but I find it hard to believe that WordPress, Moodle, and OSTicket all got together and said “okay so to have users unsubscribe from our emails, put “X” in the email.” Verbatim.
Any insight, direction, and help is greatly appreciated.
