Updating ACF content in wp-portal

[ad_1]

Hi, everyone!

I am encountering an issue with ACF blocks that is making updates very difficult. I have developed a React/Gatsby Site that uses WordPress via graphQL as a backend. It works great so far, except for when it comes to updating information via nested Advanced Custom Fields (in the wp-admin portal).

The way I have my fields currently set up is something like this:

> Top level: Field Group (Page Builder in the screenshot)
     > Layout (with Flexible Content Field Type)
        > Layout (Block)
            > Field with Flexible Content Field Type

In the page that is using these custom fields, I have over 50 of these flexible content fields (representing employees), which require periodic updates / deletions through the wp-engine portal.

Here is a screenshot of the ACFs in use in the portal:

The problem occurs when adding or deleting, or modifying “employee” “blocks”. If I add a new one, after clicking “Update”, another seemingly random block will be inadvertently re-written or deleted in the wordpress portal. I have also had issues where on re-ordering the employee blocks, after hitting “Update”, other employee blocks will suddenly contain field data for adjacent blocks, which results in me having to manually go through each of the 50+ entries to make sure that they contain correct information each time I make an update. I have also had issues where one update results in a 502 Error.

I don’t seem to encountering issues when adding employees at the very end of the list (so say if there are 57 employees, an additional employee at spot #58 does not seem to cause unpredictable behavior.)

In any case, I don’t think any of this is expected behavior, and am wondering if there is a bugfix in the works, or if someone has encountered a similar issue, as it is pretty frustrating to deal with. Thank you
