Using remote ftp server as my media library, is it possible ?

Hello! I have a question,

is it possible to use ftp remote server to expand my wordpress server space ? mainly for images, I want to upload images to ftp server and have them appear in my wordpress media library ?
so instead of uploading them directly to my wordpress server and have them take space there I want to upload them in my ftp server ( which I already did ), but having them also visible in my media library so when I create a post and select them from my media library they would link to my remote server, not my uploads folders, I hope I am clear enough.
