I was put in charge if building a website for my BSA troop. I have access to a custom domain and whatever the thing is that lets me do everything on WordPress but I don’t really know where to start. I’m interested in web design as a whole and would love to get some good tips and tricks if anyone knows any.

I would suggest going to YouTube and searching WordPress for starters. There are a lot of good tutorials on there.
You could find a site you admire for a similar troop. Then send them an email asking how they did it. Chances are good they’ll be happy to give you pointers.
