WebP fallback to JPG without a converter?

[ad_1]

I’m looking to use WebP images on my sites and I’ve found that the images I get from conversion from PSD and TIFF directly to WebP are both higher quality and significantly smaller in file size than images converted from an optimized JPG. I’d like to be able to upload both a WebP and a JPG and serve the JPG in the appropriate size only as a fallback.

I’m seeing plug-ins that will do this but they all seem to convert the JPG to WebP, which I don’t want. Are there any that will let me load the WebP images to be served?

If there’s a coding solution that’s not too complex, please share that as well.
