i need to make a website for a small business owned by my parents. they asked me being the most technology savvy, unfortunately, i’m not any more knowledged than them. we already own the domain on siteground and we cant afford to switch to another option like a website builder. I plant to back myself up with guides online, tutorials and help from forums and maybe this subreddit itsef.
I do not plan to e-commerce, as we operate only locally. I only need to display our catalogue, our values and all that stuff. any advice and warnings will be greatly appreciated

Ok, go with The Astra Pro theme ore Generate Press which ever one you like better. Look at the hundreds of starter sites that ash theme has. Pick one.
You can also use a page builder like Elementor, I suggest you go with Elementor Pro. It won’t take you long
I recommend the flatsome theme. It’s fast , feature rich and makes it super easy to create advanced layout.
You’ll need to install WooCommerce, as your shop plugin.
keep it simple and pick a theme that you like and keep your layouts within the confines of that theme. as soon as you try to get creative and make a theme do something it doesn’t do out of the box Your complexity will increase exponentially.
This is a good use case for WordPress and Siteground should meet your needs.
Lacking technical ability I would recommend finding a theme that you like — something current and under development, like Astra — popular themes are going to have the best support and then working within the limitations of the theme. As long as you don’t get too creative you’ll be fine.
I would use any extra in the budget to buy the Pro version of whatever theme you choose and Elementor Pro. An SEO plugin is also going to be a worthwhile expense.
Don’t use WordPress.com.
Always, always, always backup your site before making big changes.
Make sure front and home page are the same in the backend
