Slightly off topic here. I run a small but growing tech company, I write most of our content and have a copywriter revise and improve our blogs after they're written.
I end up with our blogs on Google docs. I'd love for someone else to deal with the bullshit of moving the content to WordPress.
I'm curious what roles others use to have this responsibility. At your jobs/clients, do you have someone on the development side do this, or the marketing?
My marketing folks are very focused on ads, and fearful I would be hiring someone just to copy google docs to wordpress.
So I'd love to know, who do you see publishing wordpress blogs? And what else do they do?
What you are describing is a Web Producer – but that’s not what most people will think of based on your post title.
‘Maintain WordPress’ is typically developer work, updating/installing plugins, themes, security patches, etc.
At my agency, posting blogs is 100% the domain of the marketing staff. No different than posting FB posts, or twitter posts, etc. developers get involved when it’s outside the scope of simply *using* the CMS. If non-devs aren’t able to **use** it, why have it in the first place?
Having your developers doing data entry is a great way to get your developers to quit for a better job.
Why aren’t you and the copywriter just working out of WordPress from the start?
