What plugins do you use without fail for flexible frontend content on a WP site?

[ad_1]

I am a dev with multiple years experience building WordPress sites but… I’ve never actually used Gutenberg before. For blocks I use Advanced Custom Fields plugin with Flexible Content and then client can add whatever they like eg “Latest News Block, Testimonials Block, Services Block” etc and build pages.

I’m just starting out freelance though and wondering if I should switch things up. Is Gutenberg worth looking into? Is it a steep learning curve? When I first looked at it it didn’t seem as intuitive as ACF. I also see a lot of page builder plugins such as Elementor but I’m a little wary of those sorts of plugins as they are third party. I know ACF is too but that’s just what I’m used to.

Basically I’m asking how other frontend WordPress developers give their clients flexible content options in the most future proof way. What plugins and methods do you use?

  1. ACF with Gutenberg.

EDIT: If you’re creating blocks, that is Gutenberg

  2. In my years of experience, I have found Elementor to be the most flexible option. The community is super helpful and whatever the use case, you always find some solution online.
